When your bike becomes a problem on the train

Fixed tour start

Accommodation or return travel is fixed — but bike spaces on the train are sold out.

International connection

The longer the route, the fewer good alternatives remain.

Your own bike is essential

Geometry and setup cannot simply be replaced by a rental bike.

Awkward on the train

Regular bikes are often bulky and awkward because of their size, especially in narrow entrances and when changing trains.

Traveling as a group

Available spaces are even harder to find for couples or groups.

Important: BettiBox does not guarantee a bike space – but it makes your own bike compact, protected, and rollable instead of bulky and heavy.

What BettiBox does exactly

BettiBox is a compact upgrade kit that mounts securely to the bicycle frame. For the train journey, you remove the wheels, insert the transport axle, and use the BettiBox as a stable mount. After arrival, all components are carried compactly on the frame — so your setup stays complete throughout the tour.

From bike to rollable transport package in 3 steps

1

Mount BettiBox

Attach BettiBox to the frame

Attach BettiBox securely to the frame. The upgrade kit stays compactly on the bike during your tour.

2

Reposition the wheels

Wheel conversion step 1
Lower the saddle and turn your bike upside down.
Wheel conversion step 2
Remove both wheels: front and rear wheel.
Wheel conversion step 3
Mount the protective cap for the rear derailleur.
Wheel conversion step 4
Mount the wheels on the side of the BettiBox. In the pilot, we validate the transport axle and suitable fastenings.
3

Pack & roll

BettiBox as a rollable transport package with cover

Pull the protective cover over it and roll comfortably through the station instead of carrying a heavy load.

Why not the alternatives?

Why not just reserve a bike space?

Often sold out, inflexible for connections, and dependent on just a few available spaces per train.

Why not a bike bag?

Traditional bags are very large, extremely hard to carry through stations — and where do you put them after the tour?

Why not a rental bike?

For real tours, you want your own setup, your familiar geometry, and your own bags on the bike.

Why BettiBox?

Bring your own bike, roll it on the platform, pack it more compactly on the train, and carry everything space-efficiently on the frame during the tour.

Frequently asked questions

Is taking it on the train guaranteed?

No. BettiBox is designed to make your bike more compact and easier to transport. Actual carriage still depends on the transport operator’s rules, the train type, and occupancy.

Do I have to remove both wheels?

Yes, to achieve maximum compactness, both wheels are usually removed.

How long does conversion take?

With a little practice, conversion takes only a few minutes. We are measuring more precise times in the current pilot project.

Does BettiBox fit every bike?

We are currently focusing on road, gravel, and touring bikes with classic frame geometries. Cargo bikes, fat bikes, and very heavy e-bikes are not currently supported.

Does BettiBox work with thru-axles and quick releases?

We are currently testing different axle standards in the pilot project to ensure broad compatibility.

How does BettiBox protect the derailleur, cassette, and brakes?

In the pilot, the focus is on better protecting the derailleur, cassette, brakes, and frame contact points during transport. Details will continue to be optimized during testing.

Can I leave BettiBox on the frame permanently?

BettiBox is designed to be carried on the frame. In the pilot, we are validating which frame shapes, setups, and attachments work best for long-term use.

Is BettiBox already available?

Not yet. We are in the pilot phase, but you can already apply for the BettiBox pilot.
